Parvati Devi

The first day of Navaratri honors Parvati Devi who is the first incarnation of Durga devi after Sati. She was born to the King of the Himayalas, Himavat, and fell in love with Shiva who was heartbroken after the death of his wife Sati. Goddess Shailputri, another name for Parvati, is the absolute form of Mother Nature.
